Village Shop - new policy on Plastic Bags

In a spirit of community co-operation and partnership, the Village Shop will promote cotton bags from 1 December and charge 5p for each plastic bag provided.  The shop has kindly agreed to donate the 5p to SACC for the first six months.  New plastic bags, which will degrade within 12 months, are to be used.

Recycling - Village Hall Recycling Centre is OPEN

First Person to deposit in Recycling Bins!

The objective of this project is to recycle items which are not collected by the kerbside delivery. A 3 month pilot is planned; starting on 1st December . You can download a copy of our recycling Poster (2556KB) here.

The steering group agreed to obtain five of the small green wheelie bins and place them alongside the Village Hall (right hand side). The following items are to be collected in the pilot. A SACC volunteer rota has been established to check for litter and to empty containers as they are filled.

  • Plastic Bottles (incl. milk, pop, water, shampoo and detergent
  • Tetrapak and similar beverage cartons
  • Flattened Cardboard
  • Clean Tin Foil

SACC members record what has been deposited in the bins.

Each 2litre plastic bottle (or equivalent) saves enough energy to light a 60W bulb for 6 hours

Can anybody tell us how much energy is saved by recycling a kilogram of cardboard? Send your answer to Email
